The race will begin and end on the Paint Branch Trail next to the Ellen Linson Swimming Pool. The course is mostly flat, designed for speed and setting personal records. Almost all of the course is well covered by trees and runs along a path next to and within Lake Artemesia Park.
Awards
Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in the following categories:
- Overall
- Masters(40+)
- Age 0 - 19
- Age 20 - 29
- Age 30 - 39
- Age 40 - 49
- Age 50 - 59
- Age 60 - 69
- Age 70+
Additional awards will be presented to the teams as explained at right.
Accessibility
If you choose to ride the metro, College Park Metro Station is conveniently located only a few minutes walk from the site. If you choose to drive, the race is located just inside the Capital beltway. Free parking is also available at the College Park Metro Station. For detailed transportation information, go to the Race Day page.
Packet Pickup Information
Packet pickup is available prior to the race as early as 7:00 AM. Kids Race will start first at 8:15 AM, the 5K Race will begin 15 minutes later at 8:30 AM.
Facilities
Vendors and sponsors will have booths inside the Ellen Linson Swimming Pool. Restrooms will be available inside the Ellen Linson Swimming Pool as well. Coin lockers will be available at the race venue.
Water Stations
There is one water station strategically located at the 1.5 mile mark of the course. There will also be refreshments available at the finish line.

Team Scoring
The College Park Cares 5K race will feature a co-ed team competition. Team captains can register using this form.
- Teams must consist of at least 5 runners with at least one female participant
- Scoring will be based on the sum of the top 5 runners, including the times of at least one male and one female
- Team registration forms (with rosters) should be mailed to Vecna or can be handed in at packet-pickup on race day.
