Vecna Technologies, Inc. has teamed up with the M-NCPPC and Dimensions Health Care to put on the 5th annual College Park Cares 5K, which will be held on September 26, 2009.

Vecna and the College Park Cares 5K are committed to giving back to the community through volunteering and supporting charities in Prince Georges County that are dedicated to improving access to and quality of care for underserved populations. This year's race proceeds will benefit several local charities including Dimensions Healthcare System (see below for more informaiton on our beneficiaries).

Please join with us in making a difference by building our communities through our children. We are inviting you to participate in this worthwhile event as a runner, a sponsor, or a volunteer. Every donation helps and we encourage creativity (and of course generosity) when giving. Last year, business partners donated money, food, giveaways, prizes, and even volunteer time. Please review our sponsorship/recognition levels to determine your personal level of contribution.

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC)

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (the Commission) is a bi-county agency serving Prince George's and Montgomery Counties in Maryland.

A well-respected leader in the field, the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation is committed to providing quality recreation programs, facilities, and services for residents and visitors. The Commission operates and maintains more than 26,267 acres of parkland throughout the county, including land developed to provide parks, picnic areas, athletic fields, historic sites, community centers, and recreation facilities. In an effort to maintain the county's natural beauty, a large percentage of the land has been left undeveloped to serve as buffers and to provide natural open spaces.

The Department operates a comprehensive park and recreation system that offers programs and facilities designed to meet the needs and interests of patrons of all ages. Outdoor festivals, live performances, trips, self-improvement classes, teen and senior activities, summer camps, fitness and sports programs, art and nature programs, and more than 40 miles of hiker/biker/equestrian trails are just a few of the recreational amenities offered.
